Educational Aims of the Course
The aims of the BA Law and Business are to: Develop graduates with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary issues in law and business in a business focused environment. Develop graduates with an understanding and critical appreciation of the interface between law and business. Develop students as independent learners. Enhance students' written and oral communication skills. Develop graduates with an awareness of professional values and ethics associated with law and business. Provide students with the personal and key skills to enable students to work effectively on their own and within teams. Develop graduates with critical thinking skills valued by modern employers. Support students to attain a broad range of independent learning skills relevant to the modern workplace. Encourage students to fully engage with the development of employability skills by completing a self-awareness statement

Teaching, Learning and Assessment
Acquisition of learning is through a full range of teaching methods including, lectures, seminars, workshops, moots, case studies and through extensive use of the iVLE. Assessment methods are specified in the individual module handbooks and will include a combination of seen or unseen examinations, coursework essays, presentations, moots and dispute resolution exercises. The programme modules will look to embed innovative teaching and assessment methods based on sound pedagogy. Intellectual skills will be developed through small group sessions and assessment methods, both formative and summative. Skills and Principles for Law and Business in Level 4 will focus on the early development of such skills. Intellectual skills will be assessed throughout the programme and will include essay and report writing, presenting oral argument and seen and unseen examinations. Practical skills are developed in a progressive manner thorough the individual modules throughout all levels of the programme. The individual programme modules employ a variety of methods of assessment to measure such skills, including report writing, presentations and oral communication skills. Development of transferrable skills are embedded into the individual programme modules. Assessment of transferrable skills is made through the range of formative and summative assessment techniques employed throughout the programme.
