Teaching, Learning and Assessment
The teaching is delivered by lectures, discussion, scenario-based group work, clinical examination skills, videos, and simulation in relation to emergency scenarios. Teaching is supported with the use of anatomical models, patient equipment and a patient volunteer who discusses their personal journey.
The programme includes support on academic writing and how to structure and develop a case study. Templates are shared for use in the case study. Past excerpts from case studies, are shared and discussed with the students to support their future submission. Students are given the opportunity to submit draft copies of the case study and receive formative feedback.
Two sessions provide guidance on the structure of the anatomy exam.
Assessment:
Anatomy and physiology examination, duration 1 hour. This is aligned to module learning outcome one and is 30% of the marks for the module.
Written case study. This is aligned to module learning outcomes two, three and four and is 70% of the marks for the module.
