Educational Aims of the Course

The aim of the programme is to enable students to produce a masters level dissertation as part of the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme. The case study will investigate a complex and strategic work based leadership issue putting into practice the skills and knowledge gained over the duration of the programme and applying concepts from wider leadership and management literature.

Learning Outcomes

Propose and justify a case study in healthcare leadership.

Apply relevant research methods and approaches to critically appraise leadership within a healthcare context.

Teaching, Learning and Assessment

This programme aims to enable students to produce a masters level dissertation. The assessment comprises two parts

  1. Research proposal (3,000 words)
  2. Healthcare leadership case study (10,000 words)

During the programme formative feedback, which supports the summative assessments, is on-going both within and outside formal sessions.

In order to complete the top-up to MSc full award, the learner will need to complete the 7307 Healthcare Leadership Case Study 60 credit module.

Approved variance from Academic Framework Regulations

This programme has a variance to allow for no research methods module and for Module 7307LBSEGA to require that both assessment components need to be passed in order to obtain an overall pass mark on the module (approved 21/08/2023).
