Educational Aims of the Course
The overall aim of the programme is to support students in developing their practice in line with the RPS Foundation Pharmacy Framework. The course will serve as the base for successful and effective careers in Clinical Pharmacy, with those having completed the programme being equipped to effectively optimise patient care, make evidence based recommendations around therapies and develop practice to directly benefit the patients and organisations they serve.
Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate the evidence, to date, on the most appropriate therapeutic management of the disease state.
2.
Apply therapeutic knowledge to a critical analysis of patient management problems by case review and demonstration of their contribution to patient care in practice.
3.
Assess the clinical indicators of response to and adverse effects of drug therapy by case review.
4.
Critically evaluate information and synthesise data from a variety of sources.
5.
Apply planning, evaluation and analytical skills to the improvement of practice.
6.
Apply problem solving skills to the optimisation of patients care.
7.
Implement knowledge of evidence-based medicine to the management of individual patients.
8.
Screen, assess and prioritise patients for potential pharmacy input.
9.
Critically evaluate information from a range of sources relating to medicines use.
Teaching, Learning and Assessment
Lectures, seminars, workshops, work-based activities, problem-based learning and self directed study. Examinations (MCQs and case analysis),case reports, presentations, portfolio. Lectures, seminars, tutorials, case studies, problem-based learning, workplace-based activities, student-directed learning, Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE),portfolio, project proposals and research project. Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE),oral and written case reports and written reports of certain activities (such as a practice evaluation exercise) and research project report. Lectures, seminars, tutorials, case studies, problem-based learning, workplace-based activities, student-directed learning, Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE),project proposals and research project. Transferable/key skills are embedded in modules within the programme.
