Aims

To enable the participant to conceptualise, plan and conduct a study for the generation of knowledge, which is at the forefront of an academic discipline or an area of professional practice.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Provide evidence for the creation and interpretation of new knowledge at the forefront of an academic discipline or area of professional practice.
2.
Apply and develop appropriate techniques/methods in research and scholarship.
3.
Provide evidence of original contribution to the development and/or implementation of new methods or system of practice.
4.
Communicate, discuss evaluate and defend ideas and conclusions to the satisfaction of peers to non-specialist audiences.
5.
Provide evidence of achievement of additional outcomes as detailed in the Learning Agreement.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Students will complete a substantial investigative project with the support of a supervisory team. The research based investigation will relate to a particular issue or problem located within the participant's management professional practice. Participants will identify, research and produce conclusions which will add to knowledge and/or professional practice as an outcome of the investigation.
Module Overview:
This module enables you to produce either a conventional report or an academic journal report on the models, methodology, findings and conclusion of your research. You will also be able to provide evidence of the creation and interpretation of new knowledge at the forefront of your academic discipline or area of professional practice. The modules aims:
  • to enable you to conceptualise, plan and conduct a study to generate knowledge at the forefront of your academic discipline or area of professional practice
Additional Information:This module offers either the choice of producing a conventional report on the models, methodology, findings and conclusion of the research or a research report in a format that is suitable for publication in an academic/professional journal. The participant will also have the opportunity to provide evidence of creation and interpretation of new knowledge that is at the forefront of an academic discipline or area of professional practice.
