Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
  • Reflection on the knowledge and skills developed throughout the professional doctorate.
  • Reflection on the strategic leadership required for research and knowledge mobilisation
  • Reflection on the collective requirement to both develop and build capability
  • Dissemination strategies for research and evidence
  • The potential impact of research and new evidence
  • Action planning for self and others
Module Overview:
This module provides the student with the opportunity to critique their professional learning. Students will have the opportunity to present their reflections in an academic and professional context in addition to the opportunity to consider practical applications of their findings.

This module will encourage the student to reflect Domain 6- supporting research related development in others and Domain 8- Strategic leadership in research and knowledge mobilisation of the NHS England's (2024) Multi-professional practice-based research capabilities framework which will require the students to consider the awareness and influence of their research within their organisations, nationally and internationally.
Additional Information:
The Reflection module represents stage 3 of the DPPH programme. This stage is an independent stage of the DPPH programme. The students will be supported via one-to-one supervision. A supervision team of up to four supervisors will appointed to each student. The supervision team will meet on a regular basis with the student. It is recommended that supervision should be at least 10 sessions per year. A record of supervision and progress will be made via eDoc.


Additional support will be provided through 'Professional Peer Learning set's (PPLS) these will be created by the programme but we be student led. There will also be regular academic touch points which include tutorials, a book/journal club and writing workshops.
Masterclasses for the reflection module will include include a reflective workshop and several writing workshops.

Please Note:

The programme team advise that one credit equates to ten notional hours of learning- this is the estimated time commitment expected from students undertaking this module.
