Aims

The module aims to equip students with the research skills necessary to undertake their dissertation project, including the preparation of a research proposal or business case for the activity (depending on the academic/industrial context), consideration of ethical and legal issues, literature review, oral and written presentation skills and project management.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Research principles and design; Identifying research issues and developing research questions; Identifying Legal, Social, Ethical and Professional Issues related to computing and computing research; Literature searching, reviewing and citation; Research planning: writing project proposals, time management, costing; Qualitative and Quantitative methods and data analysis; Project Management, Dissertation and report writing.
Additional Information:This module provides generic and specific research methods skills, which will help equip the student for the project dissertation module and also for possible future research career.
