Aims
To provide students with knowledge and understanding of the context of the architect and the construction industry, including the architect's role in the processes of procurement and building production under UK legislation.
Learning Outcomes

Appraise design projects and practice in the context of current policy, regulation, legislation, and requirements of sustainable design
2.
Differentiate between how the various disciplines (clients, users, constructors, coprofessionals and wider society) integrate in procuring and progressing a development proposal
3.
Appraise current issues affecting professional practice and speculate on future directions

Outline Syllabus:
To provide students with knowledge about key aspects of contemporary architectural practice in order that they have a strong foundation for entry into the RIBA Part 3 period of their education.
To provide students with knowledge about key aspects of contemporary architectural practice in order that they have a strong foundation for entry into the RIBA Part 3 period of their education.

On behalf of the teaching team, welcome to the Practice and Legislation module, this is an exciting opportunity to reflect upon contemporary, ethical design practice and also to be directly involved in 'live' architectural projects. You will be working, in groups, with real clients on a variety of projects identified by them with a member of staff as a mentor. You will act as a 'mini practice' and resolve and advise your respective clients on professional issues.
