The scope of food safety law The Food Safety Act 1990 framework Regulations made under the 1990 Act Microbiological safety of food Regulation of hygiene Inspection procedures Enforcement procedures Regulation of the use of additives and contaminants Requirements for safe food packaging Need for food labelling to be informative and accurate Offences relating to the sale of unsafe food Enforcement Defences Need to make food tamper proof Powers to deal with incidents of malicious contamination Emergency powers to deal with unsafe food Evaluation of the current law De-regulation Food law in the 21st century
