Critically analyse the influence of culture, multiculturalism and multilingualism in a local educational context

Critically appraise the issues and debates surrounding social processes and societal factors that influence participation in education

Evaluate how social and cultural factors influence individuals’ life-long learning and future life chances
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Students will explore a range of related topics, for example:
- Understanding culture, multiculturalism and multilingualism
- The relationship between ethnicity, multiculturalism and identity
- Systems of education
- Social processes and societal factors influencing participation in education
- Conceptualising life-long learning
- Education and life chances
Additional Information:This module is delivered as part of a fully online programme. It will introduce students to the relationship between ethnicity, multiculturalism and identity. It will explore how these influence the organisation of education in its broadest sense. It will conceptualise life-long learning to explore the social and educational processes that shape individuals' life chances.
For the assessment, students will chose ONE country for a Case Study example.
