Aims

To introduce students to a range of matters they may encounter within a Private Client department. To build upon work undertaken by students in Wills & Administration and Tax. To develop skills of fact analysis; identification of legal issues and client goals; research; problem solving and advising; presentational skills; planning and drafting of wills.

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate an ability to carry out steps in a transaction including drafting the appropriate documentation

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Elderly client, Capacity, Tax planning & trusts.

Law of Wills, Will drafting, Execution , alteration & revocation of Wills.

Administrative provisions in Wills.

Variation of wills, Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants ) Act 1975.
Module Overview:
Be able to understand the nature of work undertaken in a private client department within a law firm.
Additional Information:
This is an elective on the LPC as dictated by the relevant professional bodies.
