Aims
This module critically explores coach education and coach development. Underpinned by coach education research, the module will enable students to consider how to develop themselves and others as coaches. Students' learning will be enhanced by researching key applied issues in sport coaching contexts including: ethical guidelines, core skills and competencies, and their own development as coaches.

Module Overview:
This module critically explores coach education and coach development. Underpinned by learning theory, the module enables you to develop yourself and others as coaches through work-related learning in a sport coaching placement. The placement can be in your own context or at one of LJMU’s sporting partners. You will use research skills to enhance and evaluate learning from your work experience.
This module critically explores coach education and coach development. Underpinned by learning theory, the module enables you to develop yourself and others as coaches through work-related learning in a sport coaching placement. The placement can be in your own context or at one of LJMU’s sporting partners. You will use research skills to enhance and evaluate learning from your work experience.
Additional Information:The aim of the placement is to allow students to gain experience as a sport coach in order to further their learning of key applied issues including: ethical guidelines, core skills and competencies, and practitioner perspectives within sport coaching. Subsequent to the placement, students will use a variety of research methods to analyse their own coach development via a case study. This will ensure that students have requisite research methods knowledge prior to their independent study module.
Teamworking will take place via group discussions and peer review of formative work.
