Aims

To develop a critical understanding of how learning is conceived. Examining professional, pedagogic and practical alignment whilst also evidencing critical understanding of athlete learning and development in your sport context.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Contemporary and classical Learning theories Athletes' needs and development as people and performers Developing learning relationships with athletes Coaching pedagogy including practice design to support learning in context Instructional models/models-based practice Coaching styles to meet learners needs at various stages Coach behaviours to encourage learning Curriculum development and evaluation
Module Overview:
This module provides a theoretical basis for understanding how learning occurs. It also enables you to use theoretical understandings to analyse and develop learning environments to help you flourish.
Additional Information:The module examines learning from a theoretical, pedagogic and practical perspective and can link to other modules on the programme. Teamwork will be developed through group discussions and peer review of formative work.
