Aims

The aim of this module is to develop student teachers' understanding of subject and general pedagogies, and to develop competent and knowledgeable teachers with an understanding of learning, teaching and assessment.

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate a critical understanding of the theory and policy that informs subject and / or phase teaching

Evaluate the implementation of subject and / or phase specific teaching approaches to inclusive learning
3.
Critically reflect on the impact of your inclusive classroom practice and set targets for your continued development

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Reflecting on theoretical and practical understanding of subject and / or phase teaching including, subject knowledge and teaching approaches.  Taught sessions will include curriculum models and delivery (EYFS and KS1), early mathematics, early reading and writing, classroom management (inc. behaviour), teaching methods, etc. Pedagogical approaches to teaching of core and foundation subjects, including teacher explanations and modelling, questioning and dialogue, group work and independent learning, including stretch and challenge, etc. Assessment and recording (EYFS and KS1), including formative and summative assessment and progress, etc.
Module Overview:
This module develops student teachers as critical reflective practitioners, developing knowledge and expertise of key subject and / or phase teaching approaches to learning, teaching and assessment.
