Aims

The aim of the module is:

  1. To gain a broader understanding of the research/quality improvement process within different contexts

  2. To develop the knowledge, skills and techniques to undertake research/quality improvement.

  3. To consider both traditional and non-traditional approaches to research/quality improvement.

  4. To gain an understanding of the standards, requirements and professionalism required to undertake research/quality improvement.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
This module will allow students to consolidate and build upon what they have learned in module 70102PQHEA. There will be a more in-depth exploration into a broad range of research methodologies (qualitative, quantitative & pragmatic). Students will have the opportunity to develop their skills in data collection, analysis techniques and use of software (EXCEL, SPSS, NVIVO). Master classes in certain data collection and analysis techniques, writing for publication, impact/ORCiD may be offered. Students will be able to present research articles within journal clubs. Study roles and responsibilities and project management will be considered. Research will be examined within a global context. Ethical issues such as decolonization of research will be further explored.   
Module Overview:
This module will provide you with a practical understanding of the purpose, design, data collection, data analysis and ethical considerations of a range of research methodologies and methods. Furthermore, the module will enable you to critically evaluate research, interpret findings and consider implications for practice, health and well-being and identify areas for future research.
