Aims
Evaluate the financial, economics and management aspects of marine operations so enabling the students to have the essential knowledge and competencies to tackle the fundamental managerial concerns normally attended to by senior management in the maritime industry.

Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
Chartering practices with a focus on laytime calculation and economic aspect of chartering. Ship finance, including financial instruments and security, Forward Freight Agreement (FFA). Maritime economics, including basic economics theories (supply, demand, equilibrium, elasticity, and game theory), four maritime markets and maritime economics. Maritime management, including ship size and economies of scale, performance, and the impacts of Brexit and COVID. Maritime safety management, including formal safety assessment. Third party ship management, including the history of 3rd party ship management, marketing process of ship management, ISM code, and selection of ship management using advanced multiple attribute decision-making methods (e.g. AHP and TOPSIS). Current maritime research (research informed), including new research findings in the maritime field and research methods.
