Aims

1. To enable the student to undertake a detailed study of a clearly defined legal socio-legal or social-scientific topic, issue or problem 2. To increase knowledge during the research process of a selected subject area and develop a greater critical awareness 3. To be able to present findings of personal research in an appropriate form

Learning Outcomes

Develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding sufficient to demonstrate some critical evaluation of a key area/issue within the broad parameters of global crime, justice & security
2.
Critically identify and summarise relevant information and develop an evidence-based approach to research and demonstrate competency in using information technology
3.
Demonstrate the capacity to work independently and display high order skills in legal research and legal writing
4.
Manage time and develop independent learning for continuous development.
5.
Research effectively through appropriate theories, methodologies and techniques using primary and secondary materials
6.
Critically plan and implement tasks and communicate to a range of audiences

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Outline Syllabus: The module is an independent research project under the supervision of an academic with specialist knowledge within the subject area of the dissertation. Students enrolling for the MSc award will take this dissertation module.
Module Overview:
You will undertake a detailed study of a socio-legal or social-scientific topic, issue or problem. This module will increase your knowledge during the research process. You will be able to present findings of personal research in an appropriate form.
Additional Information:The Dissertation module is the culmination of the whole programme of study, bringing together aspects of various learning skills in addition to those highlighted as specific learning outcomes. The module content is based around a negotiated topic area following discussions with tutors.
