Aims
Provide an advanced introduction to the physical basis of climate change, impacts of climate change, and the social and political responses.
Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate systematic knowledge and critical understanding of the causes of climate change.

Explain the threats and differential impacts of climate change and critically evaluate various societal adaptation strategies.

Demonstrate a critical understanding of the breadth of mitigation approaches to offset climate change and the societal acceptability of climate mitigation strategies.

The physical basis of climate change. An advanced introduction to climate change impacts. Climate models. Social and political aspects of climate change, emphasising issues in the developed world and the Global South. Public support for and acceptability of decarbonisation and risk mitigation strategies. Tensions and synergies between climate change mitigation and social inequality.
