Aims
To develop and extend student's knowledge and practical experience of the research process and the use of advanced research skills. This will involve a critical analysis of the methodology and results of previous research, obtaining the relevant ethical approval for their project, and the assimilation of a research project that demonstrates the ability to plan, design and conduct a piece of independent research within their chosen discipline of sport and exercise science.

Critically evaluate the effectiveness of advanced methodologies and use evidence to select approaches that are most appropriate

This module provides the opportunity for students to further develop and extend their knowledge and practical experience of the research process, and to learn and make use of advanced research skills.

- Produce a piece of independent research in journal article format
- Critically evaluate the concepts, methodologies and associated literature underpinning the research
- Assimilate, integrate and critically discuss the research findings
- Justify and critically discuss the research and research process
Additional Information:
This module requires students to undertake a Master's level independent research project in the Sport and Exercise Science discipline relevant to their programme of study. Alongside the taught content on the module, it is expected students would undertake approx. 180 hours of self-directed study/research in order to complete their research project.
