Aims
This module aims to equip students to critically analyse the integration of professional advocacy, complex decision-making, and interventional strategies in the SCPHN role. Students will increase their awareness of important issues in mental health within an authentic context and promote a holistic approach to public health mental health practice.
Learning Outcomes

Systematically analyse the SCPHN’s role as a professional advocate to promote the physical, mental health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities in challenging environments.
2.
Critically synthesise public health innovations and interventions to focus on improving the mental health and wellbeing of the population.
3.
Critically evaluate stigma and bias within public health practice, synthesising approaches, which seek to create inclusive, equitable practice.
4.
Evaluate evidence-based strategies, which support complex decision making, promote developmental goals and enhance health outcomes in unpredictable settings.
