Aims

At an advanced level, to develop confidence in making evidence-based, patient-centred decisions for the safe and effective supply of medicines and to provide the rationale to justify each decision

Learning Outcomes

1.
Apply the science behind pharmacy in all activities
2.
Display mastery in critically appraising the evidence base and applying clinical reasoning and professional judgement to make safe, cost-effective and logical decisions which minimise risk and optimise outcomes for the person
3.
Demonstrate a very clear understanding of the quality, safety and risks associated with medicines and products by taking appropriate action when producing, supplying and prescribing them
4.
Demonstrate a high level of recognition of the limits of their knowledge and skills in the tasks they perform and decisions they make
5.
Describe in detail how they would work collaboratively and effectively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure high-quality, person-centred care, including continuity of care
6.
Demonstrate a very clear understanding of their responsibility for ensuring that personal values and beliefs do not compromise person-centred care

Module Overview:
This module is solely for assessment and this examination assess student ability to make professional decisions and to justify those decisions based on good evidence and sound reasoning.
Additional Information:
This module is for summative assessment only. All learning, formative assessment and feedback for this assessment are included in the content module 7000MPHARM, underpinned by 6000MPHARM, 5000MPHARM and 4000MPHARM.

To ensure the programme aligns to the GPhC commitment to patient safety, this assessment will include a check as to whether a pharmacy student is demonstrating they are able to practise safely. To achieve the assessment pass mark, students must be able to demonstrate their ability to apply the principles and concepts of safe, person-centred practice in both clinical and non-clinical environments and scenarios.

Students must be successful in the module to progress to the next level of study.
