Aims

To enable health and social care professionals to maximise learning opportunities and experiences relevant to their own area of practice, to facilitate personal and professional development.

Learning Outcomes

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Development of agreed learning for the academic written and practice reflective portfolio submissions.

Personal and professional development, practice self-evaluation and reflection. Critical writing. Critical appraisal of literature. Critical appraisal of practice related legislation, regulation, policy and procedure. Portfolio development.
Module Overview:
This negotiated work based learning module is designed to provide Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (health visitors and school nurses) the opportunity to widen their role to another area of practice. A school nurse can widen their role to be a health visitor, similarly a health visitor can widen their role to become a school nurse. This would allow for future career development opportunities. 
Additional Information:
The assessment has 2 elements: Development of a practice-based reflective portfolio; a 3500-word practice based written assessment. A learning plan is drawn up by the student, practice assessor and academic assessor for both assessment elements.
