Aims
1. To enable students to develop the skills necessary to plan and execute a research project that is relevant to their area of study. 2. To effectively communicate research outcomes to an appropriate audience.
Learning Outcomes

Synthesise material from various sources in order to identify, define and defend an appropriate research question.
2.
Apply methodological rigour in the use of appropriate methods and techniques for problem analysis and investigation.
3.
Critically evaluate the implications of research findings.
4.
Communicate research findings using agreed standards of convention.
5.
Critically examine issues pertaining to ethics, equality, diversity and inclusion with research/quality improvement

Outline Syllabus:
The outline syllabus of this module provides the students with an introduction to the module and sets out the requirements for the dissertation work. Further engagement with the module development and learning are supported through the allocation of supervision and negotiated between the student and the supervisor on an individual basis.

Module Overview:
The dissertation module offers the student the opportunity to explore in-depth an area of personal or professional interest that relates to their programme of study. In doing this, facilitated support and guidance will be offered to enable the learner to expand their research knowledge, skills and personal effectiveness and apply what has been learned in previous modules to the development of their own research/quality improvement project.
