Aims

To support participants in applying critical skills in advanced research methods and methodologies identifying appropriate parameters, theoretical frameworks, To assist students to identify appropriate methodologies, theoretical frameworks and resources in order to complete their dissertation successfully; To support participants in developing and modifying the ongoing dissertation through discussion, reflection and feedback.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:1. Key Elements of successful literature review & methodology chapters. Formulating research questions 2. Key elements of successful findings & discussion chapters. Analysis of empirical work 3. Completing a dissertation proposal 4. Student dissertation poster workshop
Module Overview:
This module aims to support you in applying critical skills in advanced research methods and methodologies. It helps you to identify appropriate methodologies, theoretical frameworks and resources to complete your dissertation successfully. It also supports you in developing and modifying your dissertation through discussion, reflection and feedback.
Additional Information:The module will be taught in lectures, seminars, group and individual tutorials. Lectures and seminars will offer support in the following: • Research project planning and management • What to expect from supervision • Undertaking and analysing empirical work • Organising, structuring and writing your dissertation Students will define individual aims, objectives and research questions through tutorial guidance. Typically tutorials will focus upon: • Advanced research methods • Advanced Literature Searching • Formulating a methodology in the specific subject context. • File Management. • Presentation of thesis and practice. • Structuring the dissertation • Setting parameters for research. • Defining a theoretical framework.
