Aims

This module will prepare students to apply patient-centred approaches to care planning across the lifespan incorporating physical, mental, cognitive and behavioural aspects of health and with specific application to Adult Nursing

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate critical awareness of the role of effective communication strategies to enable individuals to actively participate in their care
2.
Critically discuss the role of the nurse in identifying and reducing barriers to delivering person-centred care for vulnerable individuals, families and communities
3.
Critically appraise how the nursing process supports person-centred decision making in care delivery

Interpretation of investigations (NMC 3.12)

Deterioration/distress-clinical decision making (NMC 4.10)

Evaluation of interventions to support suicidal ideation/self harm (NMC 4.11)

Module Overview:
This module will equip students to apply patient centred care approaches to care planning across the lifespan. This will include an understanding of effective communication, identifying and reducing barriers to person centred care and how to evaluate current care. Students will be able to critically appraise how adult nursing processes support individualised care delivery.

In this module the indicative content will specifically be applied within the context of Adult Nursing.
