Aims

This module aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop their professional skills and reflections about their own career management and personal self-development in an international context. The module will help prepare students for searching and applying for employment in the global jobs market, which will include digital literacy skills pertaining to the use of professional online communication technologies. Students will be empowered to take responsibility for their own development and encouraged to draw on their prior education, work and international experiences.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
1. Analysis of own employability skills, through the use of self-assessment questionnaires and self-reflection. Identifying strengths and weaknesses in the context of the global jobs market and international employer needs.

2. Employment-related content – including job searching skills, writing effective covering letters, CVs and application forms. Understanding international recruitment processes, including psychometric tests, researching companies, interview skills and assessment centres.

3. Self-presentation and professionalism skills - how to present yourself professionally through global digital mediums and platforms.

4. The importance of on-going self-reflection through reflective writing and creating learning logs and professional development plans.

5. Developing intercultural skills, appreciating cultural differences and valuing diversity.
Module Overview:
This module aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop their professional skills and reflections about their own career management and personal self-development in an international context. It will help prepare students for searching and applying for employment in the global jobs market, which will include digital literacy skills pertaining to the use of professional online communication technologies.

Students will be empowered to take responsibility for their own development and be able to relate module content and learning methods to their own individualised experiences and cultural backgrounds.
