Aims

To develop understanding and critical awareness of quality assurance with particular focus on the construction industry

Learning Outcomes

1.
Critically review past and current quality systems and process used in the housebuilding sector
2.
Evaluate the methods used for Quality Control with regards to personnel and sub- Contractors
3.
Critically analyse TQM methods used within other sectors and their relevance to the UK housebuilding sector
4.
Develop and recommend suitable quality procedures for the housebuilding sector

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:-The nature and evolution of quality assurance systems used in the construction industry. -Methods for quality control employed by personnel and sub-contractors -TQM methods and application in housebuilding -Identify a range of case studies from the construction industry where quality assurance is a focal point. -solutions to problems relating to design, specification, data collection, inspection and control.
Additional Information:This module focuses on the quality control methods being used in the construction industry to determine if the contractor is properly following good practice and recommended good practice.
