Aims
To understand the term strategic management and how this contributes to the competitive advantage of international organisations. To explore and analyse strategic choice, including the formulation of strategic objectives, mission and vision. To understand the role of diversity in strategy formulation and execution. To develop an understanding of strategic direction in
international firms, including the formation of international alliances, mergers and acquisitions.
Learning Outcomes

Critically appreciate and evaluate the formation of international strategies in a firm entering or expanding in the global market place.

Analyse and evaluate different methods and strategies to achieve competitive advantage in a global context.
3.
Critically analyse strategic formulation with regard to key theories and concepts.
4.
Critically analyse the phenomenon of Born Global, compared to non-BG, enterprise in the current international environment.

This module is a fundamental core, due to the fact that understanding how strategy is formed and executed on an international level is vital to a Level 6 business programme, no matter the specialism or interest of the business that the student will be involved in, and related to. The specific focus of this module is international strategy, and reflects the audience of this degree programme and connectedness of the international business world.
