Aims

To provide an explanation and practical grounding, in the construction and configuration of computer hardware, peripherals and networks.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Load and configure a typical Windows Operating System, and attach a range of peripherals including legacy devices
2.
Create a simple peer to peer network using Direct Cable Connection
3.
Explain a basic theoretical and practical knowledge of hardware and operating system software, administration and technical requirements
4.
Explain a basic theoretical and practical Networking, its basic administration and technical requirements

Outline Syllabus:Comparative Network Operating Systems and O/S basics Type of cabling Network basics: Topologies, Network Connections, and the TCP/IP Protocol suite OSI model basics IPv4 and IPv6 Windows Server overview Managing and monitoring Windows server Active directory and account management basics File and Print management basics Maintaining and troubleshooting a network Basic Network Security
Additional Information:This module provides students with knowledge hardware and software configuration and maintenance. It provides practical knowledge of computer systems and networks.
