Aims
The module aims to allow students to develop professional level conceptual and practical production skills through collaborating with performers, writers, arrangers, programmers, sound engineers and other practitioners. It provides an opportunity for experimentation, creative problem solving and the setting and attaining of relevant goals. The module provides students with the support, facilities and opportunities to identify and develop creative potential in incipient musical works to realise this potential with regard to potential markets.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Initiate and produce recordings of songs, compositions and other musical creations to professional standards demonstrating a systematic understanding of appropriate musical skills and production technique
2.
Document all on going work and related activity and create associated promotional materials to a professional standard
3.
Exercise initiative and personal responsibility to manage the professional, commercial, legal, financial, promotional and technical practices, frameworks and contexts in which professional music producers operate
4.
Analyse, reflect, review, and revise production activity on an on-going basis
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:This module allows the student to develop to a professional level as an individual producer and to identify and establish production activities and projects focussed on a potential career.
The emphasis is firmly on self-directed learning and students are required to initiate a range of production activities based on their personal strengths and career aspirations. Project proposals, agreed via a planning form, will be approved subject to resource constraints, timescales and feasibility.
