Aims
This module aims to provide the student with the opportunity to develop their skills in literature searching, practical research, analysis and presentation by summarising their research activities and findings in a mid point presentation and final 6000 word written article.
The work should be clearly related to the field of Sound Technology and a progression from material covered in course modules at Levels 4 and 5.
The exact topic can be chosen from a number of suggested academic and vocational areas but it is a requirement that some practical work is conducted (e.g. experiments, surveys, listening tests, equipment building) as part of the project.
A further aim is to give the students an opportunity to develop a specific knowledge in an area related to their career aspirations.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Manage time and resources effectively in the production of negotiated tasks
2.
Evaluate and compare existing research source materials in an advanced area of sound technology
3.
Analyse, evaluate and record information independently using appropriate evidence and referencing
4.
Present their research findings in a coherent form using appropriate presentation software
5.
Produce a final research article demonstrating high levels of application, achievement and presentation
