Aims
The module is designed to develop an understanding of innovation, creativity and problem solving as core requirements for business success in a globalised economy, and to provide students with the knowledge and skills required for successful exploitation of new ideas.
Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate an understanding of the role of Innovation, Creativity, Entrepreneurship and Problem Solving in business success

Critically evaluate the performance of organisations in selected innovation case studies
3.
Produce a professional business plan for an innovative engineering opportunity

Corporate culture and management.
The practice and importance of innovation in promoting corporate success.
Means by which a culture of creativity can be promoted and sustained.
The practice of entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurial strategies
Approaches to problem solving
Commercial exploitation of ideas
Intellectual property rights and their enforcement
Develop business case proposals (inc. profit / loss, cash-flow and return on investment)
Commercial risk and its mitigation.
Envionmental, societal and security risks / impact of innovations and potential mitigations.
Legal, ethical and EDI implications of change.
Quality issues in innovation and change (quailty as driver of change, impact of change on quality).
