Aims
The module will explore various historical and contemporary theories, debates and empirical data around issues of gender and human sexuality. It will assess some of the multiple ways in which gendered and sexual identities impact upon individuals, social groups and society as a whole. This module will explore the centrality of sexuality and gender in the study of society and social
relationships and explore some of the main themes, issues and practical strategies to lessen or sometimes even eradicate a range of discriminatory practices and forms of oppression commonly
associated with gendered difference and some of diverse dimensions of human sexuality.
Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate a range of debates around issues of gender and sexuality.
2.
Contextualise and critically analyse how discriminatory practices and other forms of oppression associated with gendered and sexual identities act as barriers to personal freedom and social justice.
3.
Critically discuss historical and contemporary perspectives in gender and sexuality.
