Aims

This module intends to provide students with the opportunity to critically explore the concept of neurodiversity, as well as to explore national and international perspectives on neurodiversity and SEND.

Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate the concept of neurodiversity

Critically analyse national and international perspectives on special educational needs and disabilities

Critically discuss neurodiversity with regards to fiction, film and the media

Outline Syllabus:• What do we mean by neurodiversity? • National and international perspectives on SEND: neurodiversity understandings and initiatives globally • Neurodiversity in fiction, film and the media • ‘Cripping’ the curriculum • The future for those who identify as neurodiverse
