Aims

To prepare students for the world of work as a journalist in staff and freelance employment.

Learning Outcomes

Identify and demonstrate successful strategies for academic or career development.

Evidence knowledge of the industry and how to operate within it including through the successful completion of work placements

Reflect critically upon own professional skills and employability prospects.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
CV writing; identifying work opportunities; developing employability skills; identifying transferable skills; develop an awareness of working as a freelancer and all that encompasses that including pitching, work rates and accounting, researching work placements; reflecting on and learning from work experience.
Module Overview:
This module enables you to apply and evaluate your skills in a professional setting. It also provides you with the means to identify your skills and match them to the employment market. You are expected to provide evidence of a work placement.
Additional Information:
This module enables students to apply and evaluate their skills in a professional setting. It also provides students with the means to identify their skills and match them to the employment market. Students are expected to provide evidence of 10 days work placement undertaken over the course of their degree studies.
