Aims
To collect, evaluate and process information within the context of specified research objectives. To deepen and extend knowledge of the discipline. To formulate and present arguments with clarity, fluency and coherence according to the tenets of the discipline. To analyse and interpret a body of knowledge in a manner conforming to the standards of lucid scholarship.
Learning Outcomes

Conduct an extended enquiry into chosen subject using a representative range of relevant primary texts and secondary source material.

Research, comprehend, question and use concepts which relate to the chosen topic.
3.
Present a clearly structured, logically sequenced written work with an articulate and grammatically sound argument which is substantiated by bibliographical research and appropriate illustrations, using the Harvard System of annotation and reference to a professional standard.
4.
Analyse and interpret the results of research in a lucid and convincing argument.
5.
Synthesise material from dispersed and distinct sources so that a fresh view is substantiated, or an existing view is freshly supported.
6.
Demonstrate evidence of independent or original thought and judgement.

Outline Syllabus:
Research topics are chosen by students in consultation with module staff. The dissertation supervisor will monitor progress through weekly timetabled tutorial sessions.
