Aims
This module looks at forensic science and related professions and the role of the expert witness.
The aim of this module is to develop knowledge and practical experience of the role of an expert witness within the context of Forensic Science.
Learning Outcomes

Critically review case studies including the evaluation of the associated paperwork
2.
Generate and submit reports interpreting a range of forensic analyses in a manner suitable for legal proceedings
3.
Defend a statement of witness in a (mock) court proceedings

Outline Syllabus:Topics covered include:
Legislation relating to the forensic scientist/practitioner
Court proceedings and conduct
Statements of Witness and associated paperwork
Quality assurance/control and forensic validation procedures
This module will be supplemented by a series of guest speakers who are forensic practitioners and will relate their court experiences through a number of actual case studies
