Aims
This module aims to engage students in current behaviour change theories, concepts and applied examples across the physical activity, nutrition, sport performance and health disciplines. Students will gain a theoretical underpinning in behaviour change and insight into how to change behaviours across a range of settings/populations/disciplines.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Critically define a target behaviour
2.
Conduct a behavioural diagnosis and analysis
3.
Design a theory-based behaviour change intervention
4.
Apply evidence-based strategies to foster behaviour change
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
Theoretical underpinning in behaviour change using the Behaviour Change Wheel, including:- Defining and selecting target behaviours; Behavioural analysis and diagnosis using the COM-B model; Identifying intervention options and corresponding theories; identifying behaviour change techniques and modes of delivery; motivational interviewing; action planning; goal setting. Practical application of behaviour change interventions in multi-disciplinary contexts and case study scenarios at different levels, including population/organisational/ teams/ group/ individual.
