Aims
1. To develop the student's artistic, creative and enterprise skills in researching and producing a project of their own design.
2. To conduct independent research to contextualise and inform their creative idea.
3. To develop considerable personal qualities, including an enthusiasm for enquiry and the motivation to sustain it, displaying high levels of determination and adaptability, planning and organization.
4. To show imaginative and divergent mode of thinking, integral to identifying and solving problems.
5. To experiment with and challenge conventions of form and approach in the full critical knowledge of these conventions.
Learning Outcomes

Plan, develop, and present a finished copy of a practical project in creative writing.

Demonstrate an awareness of the context in which their creative project resides.

Use high level information retrieval and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret, evaluate, synthesise and organize material to form independent and critical judgements, creative solutions and articulate reasoned arguments.

Evaluate and reflect upon their own practices and assumptions.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
The module allows students the freedom to undertake an extended creative project at an advanced level. The project will follow an interest of the student within an area that is not covered in the taught modules. The project will be self-devised and directed with tutor support.

Module Overview:
This module allows students to pursue an individually devised creative project in Creative Writing at an advanced level. Students who wish to take this module will apply in writing and their application may be refused. Students on the module submit a proposal to the module leader who then offers their comments, refining the objectives of the study into an agreed form, at which stage the module leader assigns the student a supervising tutor. The module provides the student with an opportunity to pursue a project which is not accommodated elsewhere in the programme.
