Aims
To extend research and conceptual skills developed in the programme and through taught modules.
To provide students with the opportunity to research in depth a specific research topic of their own devising.
To foster initiative and independence of thought in the application and critique of quantitative, qualitative, historical or analytical concepts and methods in Film studies.
Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate their skills in designing, carrying out and presenting a written or practical portfolio of work.

Deliver a reasoned, accurate and well-presented report, argument or script that recognises academic and formal conventions, as appropriate
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
In this module students will have the opportunity to undertake an in-depth research project into any area of Film Studies agreed in negotiation with their tutor. This is an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a sustained, self-directed study project, enabling them to develop and consolidate their intellectual and creative achievements on the degree programme.

Module Overview:
Through a series of lectures and tutorials students will develop their critical thinking and research skills as part of the completion of a large independent study project. They will be encouraged to generate effective strategies to manage their time, meet deadlines, and engage in self-directed study in an area of Film Studies they have a specific interest in.

Additional Information:
This module gives students the opportunity to undertake a substantive research project in an area of Film Studies that holds a significant interest for them. The final portfolio can be submitted as either a 6,000 word dissertation, an 8–10-minute video essay or a Script Bible. Students will be able to explore the specific affordances of each of these options in the early part of the module delivery.
