To develop an understanding of the reasons for corporate failure and analysis the effectiveness of risk management and governance

Critically analysis the notorious corporate governance/business failures and subsequent outcomes

Critically evaluate the risk management processes adopted by the organisation

Critically evaluate the effectiveness of the current corporate governance regime.

Outline Syllabus:Corporate governance and business failures Company Liquidation/Administration and Government bail outs The role of the Board of Directors in corporate governance The role of institutional investors Internal control and risk management Corporate Governance regulation and its’ effectiveness The purpose and effectiveness of the statutory audit
Module Overview:
Develop an understanding of the reasons for corporate failure and analyse the effectiveness of risk management and governance.
Additional Information:The module will give students the opportunity to explore notorious business failures of recent times and consider how risk can be managed by the Board and by government
