Aims

To evaluate programmes of care for individuals with a diagnosis of dementia. To critically analyse the care delivered to individuals with a diagnosis of dementia, recognising the need for mental health promotion of service users, carers and families.

Learning Outcomes

Critically analyse; strategies of assessment, planning and delivery of dementia care linking the importance of working in partnership with professionals, caregivers and people living with dementia.

Critically evaluate evidence based bio-psychosocial interventions to promote health in individuals living with dementia.
3.
Evaluate a range of ethical, legal, cultural and social issues affecting the person living with dementia.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Directed, individual and group learning activities will reflect on the care of people living with dementia, particularly around living well with dementia. The following topic areas will provide a general learning framework for the module: Recognition and assessment of dementia, therapeutic interventions, evidence based care of the person living with dementia, policy, the ethical, legal and professional context, service user and caregiver issues, care co-ordination.
