Aims
This module aims to facilitate the development of a holistic view of the professional nature of environmental health and its inter-relationships with other professional disciplines.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Synthesise knowledge from a range of areas of environmental health and public health and apply this to the study of professional practice in relation to specific topics.
2.
Appraise the impact of their actions to demonstrate breadth of knowledge and understanding beyond the intervention area specified
3.
Evaluate the role of the environmental health practitioner as one member of an interdisciplinary public health team
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Professional practice, particularly in relation to relevant laws and their enforcement.
Emergency planning, communicable and non communicable disease threats to health.
Role of the EHP as a partner. Benefits and problems associated with partnership working and how to be a good partner and work in partnership with other professionals.
The range of interventions and enforcement options available to EHPs across the range of the 5 key intervention areas.
Module Overview:
This module aims to facilitate the development of a holistic view of the professional nature of environmental health and its inter-relationships with other professional disciplines. It will be student led, although guided by tutors. You will be able to sit in on a range of lectures related to your topics but you will also be required to develop your own learning plans to achieve the required outcomes. Placement on this module is dependent on previous module results.

Additional Information:This module will be student led, although guided by tutors. Students will be able to sit in on a range of lectures related to their topics, but will also be required to develop their own learning plans to achieve the required outcomes.
In relation to the examination, students will be provided with 5 possible exam questions in advance of the exam. Prior to the exam itself, the module leader will select 2 questions which will be presented to the students on the day of the exam for them to answer.
