Aims

Music Creation Techniques 2 builds upon study at Level 4 and will encourage learners to take an increasingly critical approach to their practice and further develop practical skills in composition and arranging and individual creative expression through increased familiarisation with applied contemporary music creation techniques.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
The module will combine lectures and seminars. It is designed to consolidate, enhance and further develop music creation skills and techniques developed at Level 4.

Lectures will explore the creative application of music creation, composition and arranging techniques and will develop learners understanding of industry standard creative and working practices.

Seminars will explore the practical application of techniques studied within music creation lectures and will provide a forum for the analysis and evaluation of the development of their own and their peers’ musical works throughout the writing / rewriting process.

Workshops will provide an opportunity for learners to receive critique and evaluation on music creation projects, to receive support in scoring and notation, and to analyse and evaluate their peers’ work.

Music Creation 2 builds upon first year study to expand knowledge and practice in the creative application of composition and arranging techniques and to further develop learners' understanding of industry standard creative and working practices.
