Aims

Songwriting Techniques 2 builds upon study at Level 4 and will encourage learners to take an increasingly critical approach to their songwriting practice and further develop practical skills and individual creative expression through increased familiarisation with applied contemporary songwriting techniques.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
The module will combine lectures and seminars designed to consolidate, enhance and further develop songwriting techniques studied at Level 4.

Lectures will explore the creative application of music and lyric writing techniques and introduce songwriting tasks that will develop learners understanding of industry standard creative and working practices.

Seminars will explore the practical application of techniques studied within songwriting lectures and will provide a forum for the analysis and evaluation of the development of their own and their peers’ new songs throughout the writing / rewriting process.

Workshops will provide an opportunity for learners to receive critique and evaluation on personal songwriting projects and to analyse and evaluate their peers’ songs.
