Aims
This module will further develop the learner’s knowledge, skills and understanding gained at Level 4 and offers in-depth learning in the student’s chosen specialism of lighting for performance. This will include developing their analytical and creative approach to lighting design, technical lighting methodologies and technology, the use of specialist equipment and software, and current professional working practices; helping them develop a greater understanding of the current professional context of the specialist area of design and production.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Analyse and evaluate a dramatic text in conjunction with a scenic design to provide an appropriate lighting design with a director and other collaborators.
2.
Demonstrate an understanding of the key skills of a Lighting Designer through the creation of technical drawings, sketches, and other information pursuant to contemporary working practices.
3.
Interpret a lighting design to produce technical lighting systems and supporting documentation in alignment with industry regulations and the contemporary working practices of a Chief Electrician/Head of Lighting.
4.
Appreciate and apply the technical aspects of generic and intelligent lighting equipment, power arrangements and networking systems.
5.
Explore, examine, and apply industry-standard methodologies for the preparation, programming and operation of a lighting control system to manipulate light for theatre and live performance.
