Aims
This module aims to provide a solid theoretical and practical foundation in the professional practice of delivering theatre and drama within the UK statutory education sector.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Develop and deliver theatre/drama activities which take into account the National Curriculum or other relevant requirements.
2.
Analyse and critique educational theatre/drama practice in relationship to contemporary education theory and/or policy.
3.
Apply a range of operational management skills including scheduling, basic finance planning and evaluation to a live project.
4.
Identify and analyse potential employment and enterprise opportunities in the Education for the freelance facilitator/director.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
Phase 1:
The early part of the module will be characterised by an investigation of both historical and contemporary forms of education theatre and drama and the practical skill required for their delivery.
Phase 2:
In this phase students will split into small groups to research and rehearse short educational programmes on a given subject for a specific age range. These will then be toured to schools. Students will take project management responsibility for key areas of the tour. The efficacy of the educational programme will be the subject of a written critique.
Phase 3:
Students will continue to apply the learning from this module to other educationally oriented projects undertaken as part of the programme adding reflection on this to their portfolio of supporting documents.

This module offers students the opportunity to apply their, facilitating, directing, storytelling and performance skills as a Theatre in Educational practitioner. After a period exploring a range of educational drama concepts and practices, students go on to devise, rehearse and deliver participatory drama work in local schools.
