Aims

The aim of this module is to develop and advance the skills taught at Level 4 on Design from Text, by working on two contrasting hypothetical projects. As well as text-based work, the module will aim to include other forms of performance and presentation. The module will also foster independent work and strive to develop the student’s initiative.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Interpret a text to develop a hypothetical design in support of an author's vision.
2.
Research independently and effectively, to support and develop a design for live performance.
3.
Experiment with existing and innovative ways of communicating and expressing ideas and information coherently and articulately, using two and three-dimensional forms.
4.
Collaborate and negotiate with a director, building an effective communicative relationship.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
This module will build upon Design from Text at Level 4 and offer two different design projects. One will be in collaboration with a director/theatre-maker and one will be an independent project. Both will end with a presentation, demonstrating a range of communication tools and a verbal presentations.
Module Overview:
This module will offer an opportunity to create and present ideas for two hypothetical projects. One will be text based in conjunction with a director and one will be independent. With both, there will be an emphasis on the development and presentation of innovative ideas.
Additional Information:
There might be some possibilities on this project to collaborate with the Acting department – in terms of delivery.
