Aims

The aim of this module is to build upon the introduction to camera, sound and post production techniques and develop them and related new skills in the context of a studio environment. The module will also examine the nature and significance of different roles and communication processes in the studio and consider concepts and ideas as they are relevant to both the process of making and the finished product. 

Learning Outcomes

Apply camera and microphone techniques in a studio environment.
2.
Operate the core equipment components of a TV studio and demonstrate an understanding of the processes of which they are part.
3.
Analyse the processes of communication, capture (sound and vision) and visual construction in a TV studio.
4.
Analyse TV and film studio creation with reference to appropriate theory and known examples of studio film or television.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
The module will cover practical structures for working in the studio (roles and the equipment that make up the studio system). Students will explore a range of programme formats (i.e. news, gameshows, drama, live music) and will utilise appropriate technologies for the creation of each. 
Module Overview:
Working in studio requires a range of skills and disciplines. Students will explore a number of production roles both in gallery and on the studio floor through a series of production activities, producing news and weather segments, magazine and chat shows, game shows, dramas and situational comedies and capturing live music in order to hone their skills in producing media in a studio environment.
