3.
Apply independent cultural and critical research to create interdisciplinary contemporary performance
4.
Analyse cultural, critical, and theoretical perspectives in performance
5.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
In this module you will begin to advance your technical and conceptual engagement with non-conventional performance forms in two projects devoted to investigating the role of actor/performer and spectator/participant.

Your first project takes an experimental approach to performance concepts, highlighting proven international and intercultural approaches to storytelling and performance that breaks away from traditional forms. You will be expected to critically analyse twentieth century practitioner approaches and interpret these for a twenty-first century project presentation.

The second project utilises global and diverse concepts with a focus on the live theatrical experience, removing the ‘fourth wall’ to uncover the impact of performance on an audience as an active participant in a creative work. This project develops on the previous project, allowing you to further hone and develop your personal working process.

You will analyse critical and cultural perspectives in performance and manage collaborative working ethics. Interdisciplinary acting, movement and voice skills is core to the module delivery, as well as personal and interpersonal collaborative practice.
Module Overview:
These projects provide you with the opportunity to explore experimental performance approaches, combining technology and live creation to analyse advanced approaches to contemporary practice. By adapting your technical knowledge, you will expand your interdisciplinary abilities and consolidate practitioner methodologies, vocal and physical choices. You will explore environmental impacts, examining the semiotics of location and space in immersive performance, as well as achieving an experiential performance event.
